Inquiring Minds Want To Know… “Is There An Entrepreneurial Mindset”?
Do successful entrepreneurs think differently than you do? Maybe. But there might be a way for you to use what they know to make big changes in your life, too!
Everyone has something they want to change about themselves and you aren’t any different. Me, either. Your job, weight, hair color, unwanted habits, fears…the list goes on and on, but you get the picture.
In part 1 we heard from Sandra Fidelis, Success Coach and Digital Marketing Consultant about the change in mindset that catapulted her business earnings. See what she had to say here:
Now Let’s Hear From Successful Online Entrepreneur And Money Mindset Coach, Shelsey Jarvis
Shelsey Jarvis wears many hats (literally, she loves hats)! She’s a mom, wife, singer/songwriter (who just released her first album) and a successful Mindset Coach to boot! Plus..she’s worked on her own mindset to get where she is today. So I asked her what she thinks about an entrepreneurial mindset and if she has one key belief that supports it? Here’s what she said:
I think the most important belief that I’ve adopted is that when you feel like you’re too busy or overwhelmed, that’s the time to STOP working until you can see the next step or two more clearly. Most people push on, but I believe that it’s doing the opposite of that that has helped my business grow quickly!
Ok…So, step back? Stop? Really?
Well, believe it or not, this actually makes a lot of sense and it’s something most people don’t think of. My doctoral work in psychology centered around trauma and memory and that meant there was a lot of research to review about how the subconscious mind works.
(Yeah…ugh. Dry research studies: One of the not-so-fun aspects of getting a degree)!
But, unlike high school, where we often said “Get real. When in real life am I ever going to use Algebra”, (even thought we really might use it, lol!), these studies actually explained how mindset operates. Your behaviors are a result of your underlying subconscious beliefs and they work on autopilot!
There’s a real advantage to stopping what you’re doing, at least for a little bit. When you’re anxious, overwhelmed or stressed-out, you can’t think straight!
Remember taking a test in school and even though you studied, one of the answers just wouldn’t come to you? You knew that you knew the answer, but the harder you tried to remember it, the more it eluded you! Then, later on, when you were off grabbing a burger with your friends, OMG, it suddenly popped into your head?
That’s how the subconscious works. Slowing down, stepping back, even stopping what you’re doing for a short period of time, can allow the solution to come to the surface. And bonus…it also allows you to “view” the underlying beliefs that might be tripping you up!
So, Is This The Mindset Of Successful Entrepreneurs?
Having moved to the online realm myself, a few years ago, I can tell you that there’s a lot of frustration when you first start out. There are so many moving parts that it could make anyone’s head spin! The tech, e-mail auto-responders, Facebook ads, webinars, course funnels….oh, my!
But…even once you learn all that, your mindset plays a huge part in your success.
The bottom line is…you can know how to do all the “things” and you still might not be successful. Why?
Because people do what they believe they can do. So, you can say you believe in yourself until cows turn purple, but if your subconscious isn’t on board…if your mindset isn’t in alignment with what you think you believe, you will still struggle.
Do I believe there is a successful entrepreneurial mindset?
Yes. Yes, I do. And I think these two successful entrepreneurs showed me exactly that.
