Are You Really Rewarded For Good Deeds and Punished for Bad?
You’ve probably heard that “Payback’s a bitch” and “What goes around comes around”. Karma’s always got your back, right? Well…it’s a little bit more than that. What if I told you that creating karma isn’t really about getting even?
Let’s talk Taylor Swift for a minute…
Look What You Made Me Do…!
Huh, Taylor Swift? What’s she have to do with Karma?
Ok, let me explain.
Taylor recently came out with a new song called, Look What You Made Me Do. Catchy tune, full of innuendo!
She was treated badly by another performer (who shall remain nameless) and it’s about her dislike, anger and, yes…revenge for what he did. She wrote…
The world goes on another day, another drama, drama. But not for me, not for me, all I think about is Karma…And then the world moves on, but one thing’s for sure…maybe I got mine but you’ll all get yours!
Pretty clear she’s talking about “Payback’s a bitch, so just wait”!
That might make you feel better at the time, but Karma is so much more.
The truth is…we create our own karma, good or bad.
What Is Positive Karma?
Yes, we need to balance the scales, but it’s not what you might think. Your purpose is to balance your own scales.
Others may set an example for you to learn by, but it’s not a matter of comparison. The only person you should be comparing yourself to is…YOU.
And you’re the only one who can advance your positive karma.
Let’s say you’ve been hurt by someone you cared about. You say, “Look what you did to me! How can I ever trust you again”?
You’re filled with sadness, anger and feelings of revenge.
How does *getting even* help you? And if you *get even* aren’t you just creating more bad karma for yourself?
Instead of looking at negative situations from the viewpoint of “Why is this happening to me”, change your perspective to “What am I supposed to learn from this”?
You’ll be amazed at how changing your perspective can change your feelings about the situation. And when you change your feelings, you automatically change your behavior.
Payback in kind never changes things for the better…
It just continues to fuel the anger. The same way that continuing to focus on a past trauma keeps you rooted in the trauma.
You can’t move forward!
So, how do you start the shift to creating *good* Karma?
- Be open to finding the positive lesson in everything that happens.
- Focus on creating the best version of yourself, instead of trying to change others.
- Practice forgiveness in order to let go of the feelings that are harming your ability to move forward. Forgiveness is for you, not them.
- Focus inward and find your connection to source. That’s your guide to self actualization.
So, get out there and start creating some GOOD KARMA!
